7 Of The Most Romantic Places In Manchester For A Date

INTRO NW Matchmakers share 7 of their top romantic places in Manchester to impress your partner on a date. Whether you're on a first date or in a long term relationship, choosing a great place for your date night can make all the difference.

1. Everyman Cinema

The INTRO matchmaking team is excited about the recent opening of the luxury Everyman Cinema in the ABC Building in Manchester. What better way to spend an afternoon or evening than snuggled up in a velvet sofa for two with a glass of wine whilst watching a movie? This makes for a great date, almost like being at home but with the big screen and state of the art sound system.

2. John Rylands Library

Always at the top of the list of romantic places to go on a date in Manchester, and in fact marriage proposals are often made here. This late-Victorian neo-Gothic building on Deansgate in Manchester was founded by Enriqueta Augustina Rylands in memory of her husband, John Rylands, and opened to the public in 1900. Although you might not instantly associate a library with romance, the John Rylands is more like a castle!

3. Tattu

Tattu has been named one of the most romantic places to eat in Europe, let alone Manchester! Perfect for date night with its stunning contemporary Asian fusion cuisine, low lighting and a cherry blossom tree right in the centre of the restaurant. Intimate booths, a rose garden bar and exotic small sharing plates make this Spinningfields restaurant an ideal place to spend the evening with someone special.

4. Royal Exchange Theatre

A little culture goes a long way to making a perfect date. This grade II listed Victorian building right in Manchester's city centre is one of Britain's most loved theatres. The theatre itself has a dramatic history - its Great Hall was once named the largest room in the world when it was used to trade cotton and the original trading board with the day’s closing figures can still be seen. Damaged both by World War II and again by the IRA, the Royal Exchange Theatre reopened in 1998 and attracts some of the country's finest actors to its stage.

5. King Street Townhouse

An impressive Italian renaissance building housing this alluring 'baby grand hotel' with its rooftop infinity pool and luxurious, state of the art, intimate screening room. Great views of the Town Hall from the south terrace and beautifully decorated bedrooms. Perfect for a date or a romantic break in Manchester.

6. 20 Stories

This bar and restaurant is an ideal place for a date in Manchester with its beautiful rooftop terrace on the 19th floor of No.1 Spinningfields, real trees, outdoor fireplaces and seating under a canopy for you to enjoy a couple of cocktails – not to mention the 360-degree views of the Manchester skyline, possibly the best view of the city.

7. Dunham Massey

If you'd like to escape the bustle of the city centre, just a few miles away from central Manchester set in the grounds of an 18th century house, Dunham Massey Hall & Gardens is a charming estate, hosting an ancient deer park and the largest winter garden of its kind in the country. Enjoy a romantic walk through the grounds followed by lunch in a quintessentially English country pub.
